How much to put on Oyster card?

How much to put on Oyster card?
Couple of questions....can my husband and I use the same Oyster card or do we each need one?
Day 1--Arriving Heathrow Airport. Taking Tube to Hammersmith and then Tube to Westminster.
Day 2--Westminster Tube to Tower Hill and back.
a. Once back at Westminster how far of a walk is it to Buckingham Palace?
b. Do we need to take another Tube there or just walk it?
Day 3--seeing Parliment (which we can walk from County Hall). From there going to Whitehall to see horese guard change.
a. Do we need to Tube that or is it walkable from Parliment to Whitehall?
Then going to Trafalgar square.
b. Again, is it walkable from Whitehall?
From Whitehall back to London Eye-County Hall area.
c. Do we Tube that (whitehall to London eye or walk it?)
Get bags from hotel and ?? Tube go to London St-Pancras station.
If you can, please help answer the above questions and help me figure out how many cards I need (one for each of us??) and how much money I should put on them. Traveling during peak hours.

2 (CONTD through St James's Park (once you've got across Parliament Square and into Birdcage Walk). You could, if you wanted, take the tube to St. James's and walk through the Park from there. You can work out what's best for you from any map, including Google maps.
3. See the map. These are all within 10-15 minutes walk of each other; but you might feel like taking a bus if your feet are complaining. See: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/15101.aspx
4. If this is all the travelling by public transport you will do, put £15 on each card, and you may get some back at the end. If it's not enough, you can top it up at any tube station or any one of thousands of convenience stores (though in that area, Westminster tube station is your best bet).

You each need one (unless you NEVER travel together and can meet up to trade the Oyster back and forth
)
You are using the tube very little. Just in from LHR, to the Tower and back, and up to St Pancras. Every other one of your sites are w/i short walks of each other.
Just load a little PAYG ££ on Oysters at LHR. I'd put £15 on since you might decide to go some other places. You can get a refund at St Pancras tube station if you have ££ left over.

You likely won't even need the 15 quid on there.
Before you go, print out the 2for1 voucher for the Tower and the Cabinet War Rooms from www.daysoutguide.co.uk. When you get to your hotel, go to Charing Cross or Waterloo TRAIN (not Tube) stations and get a single-day paper travelcard for the day you're going to the Tower and (if you decide to see it) the Cabinet War Rooms. The paper travelcard is plastic-coated, flimsy and has an orange band on the bottom (your Oyster card is blue).
Use the travelcard for the Tower day and you'll need to purchase one Tower entrance instead of two. You save 18+ quid minus the price of the travelcard (about 6 GBP for off-peak) and that extra 12 GBP is useful for lunch, souvenirs, etc. The Cabinet War Rooms are also 12+ per person, so if you see those that same day, you'll save something close to a decent dinner.
That said, if you have less than 3 full days on the ground, you should see Westminster Abbey and I think Parliament could be a quick walkthrough.

If you enter/tour, it is not a quick walk through. You must stick w/ the tour.
If you don't go inside, then it is a quick walk-by. But from where you are staying, it is just 'sitting there' across the river. No need to schedule it at all. You won't be able to avoid the place
