How much time needed for Frankfurt airport train to Paris connection

Hello - want to take advantage of savings by buying train tickets in advance. Flying nonstop from Orlando to Frankfurt on Lufthansa. Plane scheduled to arrive at 11:00 am. Want to catch the train leaving the airport station at 12:53 a.m. - transferring in Mannheim. Considering carrying our luggage onboard. Is this enough time to make the 12:53 train?

Thanks for your help.

If your flight is on time you have plenty of time.

Usually deboarding, customs/immigration and bag collect should not take longer than 60 minutes.

If the plane is on time - if there are not snafus or long waits for baggage (Frankfurt is a notoriously congested airport) - if there is not a long line at passport control then yes plenty of time.

But why not just schedule a bit later train to Paris - otherwise you will be constantly watching your watch - say if the plane circles Frankfurt because of a lack of landing slot, etc.

Plus the walk to the train station - there are two - the Lokalbahnhof for regional trains - if your train to Mannheim leaves from it it is much closer to the arrivals hall. But the Fernbahnhof - long-distance train station is perhaps 15 minutes walk further on.

If all goes well yes but I'd leave more time as you ticket if you miss the train will be voided and you'll have to buy a full-fare ticket.

Have you checked add-on airfares to fly to Paris from Frankfurt?

The next train doesn't leave until 16:53....four hours later. Really don't want to sit around the airport for 6 hours.

Well the bahn.de schedule says you can leave at least hourly or more.

95% of the Lufthansa flights from the USA to Frankfurt are on time, and then you make the 12:53 train easily.

There is a 5% risk that your flight is delayed - but it is small enough.

I regularly fly from the USA to Frankfurt with Lufthansa and most of the time we landed even before schedule. However, there is never a guarantee in life. The worst thing that could happen is that you catch a later train and pay an additional fee. Your train ticket will not be void, you just have to pay a supplement.

PalenQ: I see that there are later trains. We were just checking to see if it would be possible to catch the 12:53 train, since it's the shortest train ride - and only one transfer. Thanks much for your input.

Traveller1959: Thanks for the info So, if we miss the train we have a ticket for, I assume we would just go to a ticket window to pay the supplemental fee?
