It used to be any amount over 10,000.00 than you had to declare it, that might have gone up though. Go to" Know before you go" or check on the us customs site which might now be Customs and border protection.

It's 10 grand to take out too and i've seen dogs at entrance to one European flight - inside the tunnel to the plane so you couldn't see them when boarding and they were smelling out money they said - can confiscate over 10 grand - includes traveler cheques. Think it's 10 grand not sure but they can an do search some folks going out too.

I have to believe, that with the appropriate declarations, you can probably take an unlimited amount of funds (presumably by bank transfer?) from the US to the UK. But, at the same time, if this is about permanently locating, and needing your total assets (or enough to buy a house or something like that), then surely a financial advisor (with relevant experience in US-UK expatrriate matters) ought to be engaged. Knowing Anglo-American taxing heritage, there are probably some (relatively) right and wrong ways to do these things.
Best wishes,
Rex

Hi f,
You may take $9999.99, without declaring it, to anywhere.
You will have to check with UK Customs as to how much you can bring in.
I certainly hope you aren't taking cash to England for a visit.

Hi tomboy,
>What's the limit on your ATM withdrawals?<
Whatever your bank says it is.
If you are thinking that you could put $100,000 into a checking account and then withdraw $5000 per day, forget it.
Homeland Security, the DEA, etc have already figured that out.
Go buy a Porsche for cash.

logos,
Already flowin out the door like the Amazon so it seems. Already flowin, and haven't even started braces yet!
Just now I know we can carry $60,000 cash with us next time we visit the homeland. Should I tell the kids to put it in their front pocket, just for safe keeping?
