How Many Fodorites?
I wonder if anyone knows how many folks use Fodors.com - in a typical day, year, etc. How many are registered.
When we post something on a thread that stays up for a while how many people actually read that - ten or a thousand???
These are questions i've been wondering about. Anyone have an inkling?
I would suppose that Fodors keeps such info.

Other travel websites post various bits of information like you're wondering about. Lonely Planet for instance currently has 332,288 registered posters as of this morning. Or some show how many times a post has been read along with how many replies it has received. I'm dedicated to this forum but it is the lowest tech in many ways of the four I use regularly.

alexa.com ranks website traffic. They put fodors at 5,254 vs. frommers at 4,182 and lonely planet at an astonishing (to me anyway) 1,886. Lets Go is at 75,000 and Rick Steves at 20,000. Yahoo.com is currently ranked #1. Alexa also has statistics on page views, reach per million people, and so on. (The rankings apply to all pages in the sites, not just the forums.) For more details:

I love this format compared to other forums, but I wish they would post the number of times a thread has been viewed, in addition to the number of replies. Would be quite interesting, huh?

I'm not surprised LP is low - I like their books but dislike the format of their message board - messages just keep sinking, whether there are replies or not. I find this forum bright and user-friendly - my preferance 
I am surprised by Rick Steves website -but I guess I shouldn't be considering how public a figure he is...

I'm not surprised at the Yahoo ranking given the fact that Yahoo has jillions of groups.
I am also not surprised that people like this format better than some others and as much as we all like to complain about trolls, and nastiness, and people being rude, etc., and in my own case the lack of attention from the "Editors" (the real ones as opposed to the self-appointed ones!), I would still rather post on a site that isn't being ruled over by some "moderator" especially ones who used to think thay ran THIS forum.

Yes thanks derek - i also enjoy fodors.com more than other sights and hope it stays as is - generally free of interference except in cases that generally warrant it - but yes would like to know the interests, by number of hits, in various topics. Actually perhaps when someone reads a post it should move back to the top of the list and not just so when comments are made. But fodors generally gets rave reviews from me.
