It seems that the only way to stay in London and not spend a fortune is booking a room in a B&B. So i wonder, is that good idea? How is like? Many thanks in advance!
How is like to stay in a B&B in London?

HI,

well, I can recommend one anyway - I've stayed there twice.
Iolanthe, very near Golders Green tube, maybe a mile walk through the Heath.
call 181-455-1417, to talk to Rosy or Simon Gill. I think you may have to dial 0208-455-1417 now though - I think the grace period on area codes is over!
I paid 25 pounds for a single, and I think 35 pounds for a double. (the single was last year, the double 4 years ago - so the prices may be different).
check out Fodor's B&B book on England, Scotland and Wales...
To stay in London without spending a fortune, you could stay in a hostel (£10-£20 per night for a bed in a dormitory and breakfast, check out www.eurotrip.com), or stay in one of the cheaper B&B/hotels from around £30 per night upwards - try www.smoothhound.co.uk .
Personally, I prefer the smaller hotels/B&B to the 'luxury' end of the market. I stayed one night in the Hyde Park Hotel, and although it was very nice, I thought £15 for 3 drinks was a bit steep!
In smaller hotels/B&B you won't get the same level of 'pampering', but you will usually find the basic facilities are adequate - e.g. television, phone, tea-making equipment, hairdryer, iron to borrow, etc. You can usually choose whether to have a cheaper room with shared bathroom, or pay a little bit more for a private bathroom.
Have a great trip!
