How far is Rouen from Paris?
I regret not visiting Rouen when I was in Paris a few years ago. I wanted to see a dear friend whom I've been writing to since we were teens. At the time I thought a train ride would be too long and there was limited availability from and to Paris. Was I mistaken? How long does it take to get to Rouen from Paris by train versus car (might consider driving from airport)?

You can get timetable there. From PARIS to Rouen.
http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm
This is the Swiss site but just for timetable, easy to use. 1 hr or 1,5 hrs depending on the trains.

We just did this very trip in October from Paris (Gare Saint Lazare) to Rouen and returned to Paris from Rouen Central station a week later.
Couldn't have been easier, trains ran on time to the second, clean and fast.Around 1hour 20 mins, or 1 hour 5 minutes (near express)depending on the number of train stops.

Price is about 20 euros each way. You must validate your ticket (small machines at head of Platform in Paris ands stairs in Rouen). Trains are quite packed at rush hour. Rarely, seats are reserved (you will see signs by the numbers).
From Rouen station, you can walk out of the station to the main road then downhill to the main part of the town or take the flat fare metro two stops (you'll see signs in the railway station) to Théatre des Arts away from Boulingrin.

There is a tourist information bureau (with a Bureau de Change) by the Cathedral.

Glad to hear that this is an easy train ride.
Has anyone driven to Rouen from CDG? Is it 2 hours or less? My hunch is that I might need a car to get around the area. It's not clear to me how big and effecient public transportation is in and around Rouen.

Robespierre -- I have never understood such people, but I have a colleague who lives near Fontainebleau and her daily commute is 90 minutes in each direction, even though she is lucky to have just one train and one metro to take.

Regarding the comment - "Numerous people commute from Rouen to work in Paris every day." My friend gave me the impression that it's somewhat of a burden to daily commute between Rouen and Paris.
By the way, any nice experiences with Paris and Rouen around New Years? What's there to do with a toddler aside from musuems? Ideally I'd like to visit during the warmer months, but it's just too expensive. I'm assuming it rains more during March.
