Who knew faxing the UK could be so vexing? I have a number provided by our hotel as follows: +44 (01887) 820 062. My local phone book suggests adding 011 first, and I think I'm supposed to drop the 0 in the 01887 portion of the number when calling from the US, but this is not working. I tried dropping the 01 in the 01887, too - no luck. Can one of you more experienced folks help me out? <BR>Thanks!

You are correct.. <BR> <BR>it should be 011 44 1887 820062 <BR> <BR>Do you have to dial a 9 for an outside line - are you sending the fax via your computer in which case have you got some settings that might be screwing it up <BR> <BR>Hope it works..

Hello <BR> <BR>I tried +441887820062 and there was the faz machine on the other side. <BR> <BR>The "+" is a code to access the international line. From my country (and most) it should be replaced by "00". Check with your operator whats yours. <BR> <BR>Joao

When I tried faxing from my computer (I had a dial-up connection at the time) and it did not work, I called my telephone co. and was advised I did not have long distance service on my second line. Maybe this is your problem?? If so, you can't fax from your computer.

Wendy, <BR>If you're still struggling with this you might try using a "10-10" number, bypassing your long distance carrier and saving money. A one page fax might cost you about 8 cents to the UK.
