Hello,
I will be in Switzerland in the first week of March. I have been to both Zermatt and Mt. Titlis before. I am taking some friends who have never visited the Swiss Alps. I remember my first trip up the cable cars in Zermatt as being astoundingly beautiful. Mt. Titlis' views from the Rotair car were lovely, but cannot compare to Zermatt.
I am thinking of visiting Arosa, and taking the Weisshorn cable cars. We are not skiers, just lovers of good scenery. Will Wisshorn be disappointing after the Matterhorn experience? How do they compare? While my friends may not know the difference, I certainly will!
Many thanks,
Chels
How do Arosa views compare with Zermatt or Mt. Titlis?

The mountains are much gentler, the elevation difference much less. No glaciers nearby. Wide, open landscape. Beautiful in a different way, by far not as spectacular.
I wasn't that impressed by Arosa - views or village. I wouldn't describe any Alpine vista as disappointing, but Arosa isn't on my top five list, that's for sure.
Is this all about YOU or are you willing to compromise a little, see something new and be happy that your friends might just think it is pretty spectacular?
Thank you, these are the comparisons I was for which I was looking. I've yet to see an Alpine village that is not scenic in its own way; however, having been to many, nothing compared to Zermatt.
@Dukey1, I would certainly compromise to see something new as that would be of most benefit to me. My concern, however, would be depriving my friends of seeing something spectacular (and equally available) in exchange for something new (and potentially disappointing) just for me. (They have never been to Switzerland and are not big on travel research, so I have the lead on this one.) Going for the average for something new for me seems to deprive them, no?
Many thanks, and I would welcome any other suggestions.

Just for comparison, my favourites in terms of vistas, general ambience and overall yummy scenery (in no particular order):
in my book.
Gstaad
Wengen
Lugano (from Monte Bre or San Salvatore or from one of the hillside suburbs outside Lugano)
Zermatt
Bad Ragaz (if itinerary is to loll about in a spa)
most disliked: St Moritz. Scenery is nice, of course, but the town is a big
FoFoBT,
Thank you! I had not thought about some of these places, and they are good to know for either this trip or one in the future. We will be staying in Lake Como for a few days, so a day trip to Lugano is a possibility (or stop along the way). I had not thought of Gastaad or Wengen, and will explore them as options. The Spa trip will have to wait for another time.
Again, thank you for your input. Personal recommendations are so valuable!
Soglio, Sils, Guarda had most beautiful views for me.
@Ingo, thank you. I will check those places out as well.
Thanks again to all who responded with suggestions.
