How difficult (traffic?) would it be to drive from CDG to Fontainebleau on a weekday morning?

I'm trying to work out an itinerary and read a post about rush hour traffic around Paris. Am I asking for trouble to pick up a rental (flight would land 7:30-8 am) and drive to Fontainebleau? Am I correct there is no train service? If the flight arrived on a Saturday morning? We're looking between June 10-12.

Thanks.

I don't really know the route you would take, but I think you are right on to begin from CDG and it shouldn't be SO bad on a week-end day. Just tough it out--the traffic will keep you alert!!

There is a train connection which takes 1:34 or 1:44 with two changes of trains. Not too convenient with baggage.

You won't be faster by car (although Saturdays are a little better than weekdays and you will divert Paris by driving the A104).

I would say: it depends on your further itinerary.

There are many trains to Fontainebleau all day. There is no transfer at all required from Paris, it's just a short run of 45 minutes to an hour (from Gare de Lyon). You could just take the Air France airport bus to Gare de Lyon.

Avon is the Fontainebleau train station.

You could take the RER B from CDG (I am making assumptions, I admit) to Gare du Nord. There, you would just cross the platform to take the RER D to Gare de Lyon (2 stops). At Gare de Lyon, you can get the suburban trains to Avon.

I rented a car at CDG in June and drove to Auxerre. The flight landed around 10:30AM and I didn't have any problem with traffic. However, I took a slightly longer route that avoided the traffic around Paris.

As long as you also avoided going towards Paris, it's unlikely that you'd have much trouble with traffic if you left during the later part of the morning.
