house-renting safe in Slovenija?
I'll visit Balkan next month and I'm tired of living in standarlized hotels. For working needs, I will stay a little bit longer in Slovenija and maybe rent a room for 3 weeks. I haven't been to Balkan before. So I wondered if it's normally safe in Slovenija for a single young woman? Compared to regions like western Europe?
Also, one friend of mine is doing a travelling survey and I would be grateful if you can fill in the 9-question questionaire. ^ ^ Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MWB5F6S

I'm a bit late in replying, but I would just like to point out that from my personal experience (as well as objectively) there's no real indication that Slovenians are any less likely to report crime compared to residents in Western Europe. This is1 especially true for more serious criminal activity that is usually used for international comparison, such as vehicle theft, burglary, assault, murder, etc.

(as well as objectively)????
What I have discovered is that reporting of crime is driven by culture, expectations, perceptions etc as much as actual crime. I've studied it in many fields and every time it is the same.
Not having a go at Slovenia at all. It just is. Just compare the amazing crime clear up rate achieved by Japanese police and American police for example.

I understand that reported crime rates between countries differ from their actual crime rates for various reasons. I'm not saying you were having a go at Slovenia in particular either, it's just that your reply could be understood to imply that crime in Slovenia is underreported and give Ida the wrong idea about how safe the country actually is.
