Hotels in Piemonte or Liguria (west of Genoa)

Jump to last reply

We are a family with 2 young kids traveling in the end of May, with a car. Children are ages 8 and 3. Either area is fine with us, though I wonder if it will still be too cold to go to the beach in late May? For that reason, we are probably leaning towards the Piemonte region but are willing to be persuaded otherwise.

We are looking for a place that costs no more than ~ 150 euros/night, with a swimming pool (preferably heated) and with a restaurant on site or within walking distance. Some kids activities (riding horses, playgrounds, etc.) would be an added bonus. We would rather not be in an isolated agriturismo somewhere, but amenable to that as well. An ideal situation would be a nice hotel with a heated pool within walking distance to a small village with shops/restaurants. If we could find that combo, we may be able to pay a little more. I realize 150/night is not a very large budget.

I have done a lot of searching on my own, but wonder if anyone has any suggestions for hotels/B&Bs/resorts that they can recommend. For the riviera, we are thinking maybe either Finale Ligure or Bordighera. Fwiw, the Grande Hotel del Mare is much too expensive for us.

For the Piemonte, we are pretty flexible. We will not be aggressively touring towns or wineries. But prefer a convenient base for some of of the major sights (Alba, Asti, etc.). We may add a few days before or after in Turin as well. Our top contender now for the Piemonte region is www.mongalletto.it near Alba.

Any favorites you all can recommend? I am already aware of some of the popular Piemonte ones on this board, but one does not accommodate kids and two others have no or a very small pool. Thanks so much!
