Hotels in Florence
Can anyone recommend a clean and comfortable hotel for two in Florence (two nights in June). We just would really need air condition, a clean room with private bathroom and something within a 10-minute walk to sights/train station. I am hoping to not have to spend more than 150 (USD) per night.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Residenza Johanna is more like a 15-20 minute walk, but should meet your budget. I stayed there a couple times many years ago and then my sister and her husband stayed for a few nights this past summer. They enjoyed their stay. Should be within your budget, and it's in a quiet area, a little off the beaten path--not sure whether that's a positive or a negative for you. Not a full-service hotel, FYI.

I have stayed at Hotel Casci on Via Camillo Cavoir at least 5 times and absolutely love it.
It is a small family run hotel in a great location, about a 5 minute walk to the Duomo and almost anything you would want to see,
It occupies an entire floor in a building with an elevator.
The wi fi works great and is free.
The rooms are very clean, the breakfasts include cold cereals, hard or soft boiled eggs, fresh fruits, breads, croissants , juices, assorted cold meats and cheeses and italian breakfast cakes.Plus of course unlimited coffee or tea
The owners are extremely gracious and it would fit your budget.

I've stayed at Alloro B&B before and it's between the train station and the Duomo on a quiet street with an interior courtyard.

You've waited a bit late for June booking.

I agree with kyb that you may be a little late, but here's another you can check. It's close to the Duomo, and there's a bus stop near the entry door.

Try searching on www.booking.com. You can set your parameters for rate, location, amenities, etc. You can generally trust the reviews you find there because only people who have booked on the site and actually stayed in the properties are allowed to post reviews.
BTW, the historical center of Florence is fairly compact, so it's not necessary to stay in the immediate area of the train station. For example, you can walk from the Duomo to the Santa Maria Novella train station in about 10-12 minutes. Piazza Santo Spirito (other side of the river) to the train station would take about 20 minutes walking or about 15 minutes by bus. From Piazza di Santa Croce, it would take about 20 minutes walking or by bus.

We liked this little 'hotel', which is one floor of a building, inherited and managed by two sisters.

hi Tanernash
No.
I book about 100 hotels a year and I have no time to go through hotels separately. Even for holiday.
So I book 99% of the time via booking.com or hotels.com.
I have the 'genius' status on booking that gives me some advantages and with Hotels I get 10% rebate under the form of vouchers.
And in case of problems, the sites give me some help.

I highly second tdk320n's Hotel Casci recommendation. I have stayed there 3 times and each time was perfect. Clean, excellent location, great breakfast, and the best hosts you could ask for. If they still have availability I would recommend you try and book.
