Hotel Vernet indeed renovating, shifting us to Royal Monceau, other places now booked; suggestions for Sept trip?
Based on reading Trip Advisor reviews for Hotel Vernet, where our TA booked us for our much needed R&R Sept 12-15, I checked to make sure we wouldn't end up in a room next to construction, or shifted to another hotel.
After emailing the hotel, they did indeed reply that due to construction they would be having us stay at their sister hotel Hotel Vernet indeed renovating, shifting us to their sister hotel, Royal Monceau. And this was after an exchange of emails for a restaurant reservation, with no mention, last week.
It doesn't bode well. The TA is out of town, and the few places I've checked are booked.
Would you all advise taking the switch, looking around elsewhere (suggestions?), or some other course that currently eludes me?
I should add that we booked a third night in Paris after the first two, and the only way to get the third night was to accept a deluxe (higher rate) room!!

The Vernet is a better choice than the Royal Monceau. What were you paying at the Vernet, and perhaps I can suggest a good alternative. Is this your first time in Paris? Do you have a preference for location?

I've been there twice before, once with the hubby in an apartment on the Right Bank for 10 days (near the government buildings and embassies, I forget exact district), and last year in the Left Bank. We only have the three days and I would pay whatever is necessary for a pleasant stay (I do note that at this point the usual high end hotels are booked). We would probably end up paying $300-400 a night at Vernet if it were available.
It's hard to tell about the Royal Monceau; a website touts it as the "jewel in the crown" of their hotel group, but tripadvisor reviews are mixed.
If we don't have a particularly nice or charming hotel, I would prefer to stay in the Left Bank, ideally in St. Germain but flexible on that.
Thanks for any suggestions!

These are a few hotels I think you would enjoy, all available as of this morning:
Montalembert 380 Euro
Bel Ami 275 Euro
De Buci 302
D'Aubusson(higher than you want to spend
but worth considering) 430 Euro
