Hotel suggestions- Paris dream vacation

I've always wanted to go to Paris and now I'm going. I'd like some suggestions on where to stay. A nice hotel, centrally located...etc. Any suggestions or places to stay away from?

I guess about US $150 night or so. I would like to stay in a least a 4 star or a really nice 3 star hotel. I want to feel like I'm in a Parisian hotel... not a bland hotel.

You might could work it out on priceline, but I think your stars/price ratio is a bit off. Would this be for a single room? You may need to lower your stars or up your price to make it match.

I can move up in price for the star quality that I'm looking for. I just started looking on-line at all of these hotels...they all start looking and sounding the same. Also, I'm not sure of the area. I'm just looking for advise on nice places others have stayed at and hope that the price is manageable. Oh and yes, I'm looking for a single room.

I'd look at Latin Quarter or Marais(spelling is probably off). You should also do some research on how stars are assigned to hotels in Europe since a super hotel may get only 2 stars since it doesn't have one item (like a check in desk and lobby adjacent) but could have huge rooms, elevator, A/C, internet access, etc etc. Its a binary system so if you miss one check mark, the entire hotel is 'down' rated. We stayed at the claude bernard and found it to be nice, centrally located, good service, etc. single rooms were running about 110e/night then with breakfast included (couldn't break it out). It was also airconditioned which was key in the summer - don't know when you are going.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know that tid-bit about the star ratings. I'm going in the spring so it shouldn't be too hot...but I'll check out that hotel.

Thanks Travelnut. I'll check those out too! Does anyone have any comments on the Hotel Concorde Saint Lazare?

the concorde st-lazare is a large, fairly expensive hotel in the classic tradition.

It's inthe 8th district, not exactly central, but near a metro stop.

I suggest you look in the 4 - 7 districts.

Try these, all recommended by other posters.
