Hotel suggestion in he 4th....

My wife and I will be staying in Paris Nov. 2nd-7th. Visiting my brother who will be there celebrating his 30th B-day. He and a few friends are renting an apartment in the 4th (on rue des Hospitalières-St. Gervais just outside of the 3rd) so we would like to be within walking distance.
I've looked at the Caron de Beaumarchais and pretty much like what I see. Would like other suggestions just so I am sure to cover all my bases.
Want to keep the cost below 160 euro a night if possible.
Preferably something quaint, quiet, and clean. We live in Phoenix where is everything is so god-danged brand new, so some kind of "Old World" Parisian-culture influence would be nice as well.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Greg

There is always the Hotel de la Bretonnerie which is probably even closer to that apt. It's usually mentioned with Caron as kind of the two popular mid-level hotels. I always thought the Bretonnerie looked better (or sounded better in what I've read and feedback), it's only drawback was no AC, but that won't matter in November. Maybe it was just the cost and value that seemed better (and I prefer the location), as the rooms at the Caron are certainly attractive. Their standard rooms are cheaper than the Caron de B, also.

Here's a good summary list from the Timeout Paris guide of that area:

This is also a good page of hotels in that area, and it has special rates sometimes, including on the Bretonnerie

Thanks Christina.
I'll be looking at other options because I just got an email from Beuamarchais saying that they are booked during the dates of our stay!!
Bretonnerie looks nice. I'll have to check that out in more detail this afternoon.
Thanks again!

Because of high demand nowadays the Caron de Beaumarchais books up months in advance.

Personally I prefer staying on Ile St. Louis if I want to stay in the 4th at either the Hotel des Deux Iles or Hotel de Lutece. Location is great as it's midpoint between the Marais and the Latin Qtr./St. Germain districts. You may still be able to book a room at either of those hotels which are owned by the same person.
