Hotel Silberhorn, Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Silberhorn, Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland or Hotel du Lac in Bellagio, Italy.

Had to rebook our trip due to Hurricane Frances.

Need help !!

I have stayed at both of these hotels.
The Silberhorn is just up from the train terminal, but you never notice any noise from the trains. Good location. The hotel has a wonderful breakfast that comes with the price of the room and you can have dinner there also if you like. We did on our last evening, and it was very nice. The room where you eat is very bright and sunny as there are lots of windows. Our room was paneled in a nice light cedar siding and it has a balcony, but very small bathroom. The other couple we traveled with had a darker paneled room but a huge bathroom. We really liked it a lot. We also stayed at the Hotel Staubbach in Lauterbrunnen which was a little cheaper and at the other end of town and that was great too.

Stayed on three different occasions at the Hotel DuLac in Bellagio. The hotel was fine. Each time we had a different type of room. Clean, handy, bit I can't brag about it. If I returned I would probably stay there again. The town is great and you are never in your rooms. There is a roof garden where you can sit and enjoy a drink or snack. The breakfast was good.

Consider booking at the Hotel Florence in Bellagio as an alternative to the Hotel du Lac. Florence gets consistently better reviews (Trip Advisor as well as on this forum). We stayed there for four nights last September and it was terrific in every way. Don't know about the Silberhorn, but you might want to think about taking the cog railway from Lauterbrunnen up the mountain to Wengen and staying there. A quiet village (no cars) with fantasatic views of the Alps and many nice accommodations, including the Hotel Regina where we also stayed last September.

We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Silberhorn in September 2000, and are staying another 4 nights in mid September (we're packing now!). We look forward to our return to the Siberhorn which has been family run for 50-75 years. Extreemly convenient with the electric train station a few hundred yards below the hotel, although as previously mentioned, you never hear it. Beautiful dining room with large glass windows looking down the valley. The week we stayed in September 2000 the cows with bells, flowers and shepherds came down from the mountain top through the parking area (clean up crew followed behind). We sat on the hotel bench and watch this annual event. All food and rooms are excellent. A great value.

There are at least two Silberhorn Hotels in the valley, one in Lauterbrunnen village itself, the other in Wengen village. If you mean the latter, let me know, as I was just there over the last weekend and can provide details on room size and which IMO are the preferred rooms.

I think the posters above are referring to the Silberhorn in Wengen as well, based on comments that it is near the train.

Based on your comments, you may be referring to the one in Lauterbrunnen itself.

Geordias,
I don't know if this is too late, I just happened across the post tonight.

We stayed at the Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen last September, and were just talking tonight about a possible trip back next year. We absolutely fell in love with the place! We had a large corner room with expansive picture windows, sliding doors and a large balcony with the most incredible view! It was more of a suite, with a small table, 2 chairs, sofabed, kingbed, and large bathroom. The meals were incredible - make sure you opt for half-board so you don't miss the delicious dinners.
And it is just up the hill from the railroad terminal, but you'd never know it - we never once heard the train.
