Hotel recommendation for Paris & London
I am in the process of planning a trip to Paris and London for my husband and I. Looking over all the forums has been helpful! I have a couple of questions: #1...is it too late to make a trip plan for September of this year? #2 What is a good hotel recommendation for both cities?

We are on a small budget but don't want to forfeit cleanliness. We have never been to either place before. The accommadations on the threads above seem a bit high to me. But I may have to alot more for rooms than I originally thought.

Without giving a budget and a preferred location, it's hard to give a specific recommendation.
Paris is a huge city, with hotels in every price range. (So is London, and it may be even harder to find cheap hotels there.) The Paris hotel threads cover a wide range of budgets, in various arrondissements.
If you want low budget in Paris, try the Hotel Bonaparte or Hotel Familia, both on the left bank, or the Hotel Champ de Mars on the right bank.

In London, I think the Radisson Edwardian Vanderbilt is an excellent value. Great location, clean, wonderful breakfast and nice staff. If you aren't used to tiny rooms, you should book a deluxe room tho.
In Paris, years ago we stayed in Hotel Hameau de Passy as a budget hotel. A bit of a hike to the metro, but it was quite clean and located off the street so it was quiet. My last experience there was in 2005.
I also like Hotel la Bourdonnais with an exceptional location for metro and viewing the Eiffel, located next to grocery, good cafes, but some may think the area too quiet in the evening.
More expensive options are Bourgogne et Montana (lovely rooms and large bathrooms) and Bellechasse (gorgeous, Lacroix decor, small rooms, great bathrooms, terrific staff).
I may be wrong, but I would think that you could find some good values in September. That is my favorite month to visit. Good luck!

Try Kensington Hilton in Holland Park. the rooms are huge and clean and in a beautiful tree lined street with bus at the door and two tube stations very nearby. The area has a nice village feel too.I'm going back to it next year.

As noted above try Londontown.com. You'll get good price on top flight hotels. We are staying at Millenium Gloicester next trip. We usually stay next door at Mill. Baileys but I got a better rate at Gloucester this time. Excellent location esspeically transportation wis and walking distance to many places.
I can also recommend the Familia posted above. We sttayed there on our last trip to Paris because I couldn't find an apartment I liked at my late booking date. I'd stay there again

I think where you stay depends upon your personality.
I found the 5th/6th to fit me most and decided after much deliberation and research to stay in Le Petit Paris in 5/6E. Marvelous location with every shop you'd like right there (bakery, pastry shop, cheese shop and market right) as well as fantastic public transport including RER train straight from airport and Metro. The rooms are small, but well designed and new. It's also the hotel in which Jim Morrison died, though it's been gutted, remodeled and reopened in Sept. '09.
A tip I can give you is that whatever the price you get on any discount site, email the hotel and ask them if they can match and provide breakfast. If you're courteous, and particularly if you're staying more than 3 nights, you'll likely get a better deal.

You can also go to British Airlines' web site and check for hotels only. Also, I've gotten hotel info from Rick Steves'. We stayed at a small hotel last May that he recommended. I can't remember the name, sorry.

Check www.travelzoo.com. I saw some good deals on London hotels. Twice we have snagged exceptional rates at the Concorde Lafayette in Paris from travelzoo.
