Hi-
The last day of our Italian trip we'll need to take the train from Rome to Florence, get a hotel for one night, and be able to make the airport by 8:30 a.m. (our flight leaves at 11:30). We'll probably leave Rome around 3 p.m. Obviously we won't have time for a lot of sightseeing in Florence, but we'd love to have a nice evening stroll in an interesting area, and a good meal to end our trip. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive-moderate hotel in an area with interesting walking? I am thinking a taxi to the airport the next morning is the best way to go. Thanks, as always!
Hotel needed in Forence-1 night only

We stayed in the Hotel Ambasciatori which was right opposite the station so no need for a taxi when you arrive. It was very reasonably priced and in a good location for walking to the main sights. The address is Via L. Alamanni 3 and phone number (in my old guide book)is 055.287421
It is also very near the bus station.
Hotel Casci.
Hotel Boston; has an elevator, garden, clean rooms, and ATM is close by. Can walk to family-owned cafes and outdoor markets (love them!). Not that far from train station - 8 blocks, maybe - can sightsee as you go.
Hotel Belletinni.
You can get a good deal on a 4* hotel in Florence on Priceline with 'name your own price'.
We have stayed twice at the Hotel Balestr which is right on the Arno river only about 2 blocks away from the Ponte Vecchio/Uffizi. It is just a perfect area. The price was very reasonable(and with breakfast both times we stayed there) and so accessible to everything. florence is beautiful. have fun.
I second the Hotel Casci. It is a 2 star family hotel. The staff is wonderful and it is not expensive. The rooms are clean but not fancy. Breakfast is good and they really wait on you!
Hotel Maxim for price and location. Clean and within walking distance to the train.
Hotel Desirée on Via Fiume. Very close to the train station, it's a family run hotel on the 2nd floor of an old palazzo. I loved it there, and they have a great breakfast spread.

Have you gone yet? Rezidenze Il Villino was awesome....I'd go back there in a heartbeat. Right around the corner is the bus station that wiill take you to your next place. Easy to use
