Hotel near CDG w/airport shuttle for our Last night in Paris
Does anyone have any suggestions on a hotel very near CDG for our last night. We would like one with airport shuttle service. We want to return our rental car the night before so that in the morning for our 10 am flight out all we have to do is take the shuttle to the airport check in and go.

www.accorhotels.com owns IBIS, Novotel, Sofitel - hotels on airport periphery and with free shuttles.

Proximity to the airport doesn't tell you anything. What matters is how long it takes to get to the terminal. Some hotel shuttles can leave you waiting for 40 minutes or more while the driver makes a round-trip.
You might want to compare transit times from "nearby" hotels to the 40 minutes it takes to get from St-Michel or Luxembourg RER to T2. A train at 7h15 will get you to CDG at 7h55.
Spend your last night in the Latin Quarter instead of a sterile airport hotel and get to the gate at about the same time as a shuttle. Sometimes sooner.

You are going to return the car, take the RER into Paris, get a hotel, check out of the hotel in the morning, take the RER to CDG and go to your terminal. Why doesn't that sound relaxing to me. Also are you comfortable with the RER?

Whether your hotel is at the airport or in the city, the sequence of events is the same:
1) Drive to the hotel
2) Check in, leave luggage
3) Drive to the car rental agency
4) Return the car
5) Get back to the hotel
6) Relax
(5 is easier and 6 offers more choices downtown than at the airport.)

We used the Ibis in Chartres for our last night in France.
Drive to hotel, check into hotel, check in car, tour cathedral, eat and sleep. In the morning, petit dejeuner at hotel, train and rer to airport.
Worked seamlessly except for a fifteen minute holdup due to a suicide.

We used the Ibis two years ago.
Be advised, however, the shuttles apparently come in twos, 10 minutes apart. One goes to terminal(s) M,N, O and P, while the other goes to Q, R, and S. You have to know which terminal you want to go to, and get on the appropriate shuttle. The sign on the bus indicating which terminal(s) the bus is going to is about 6" by 12", maybe less. The bus drivers don't ask you which you want, they assume you know.

Friends of ours always stay at the Ibis the night before and take a shuttle in the AM to CDG.
I would prefer to return the car to a quick and convenient location in Paris, then taxi to the hotel and to CDG in the morning. Traveling light I might use the metro and/or RER.
I've driven to our hotel and dropped off the bags and then returned the car, but then there is transportation back to the hotel at some point, so I think the other way is easier.

I've used the Hilton CDG several times and it is a very nice hotel with convenient shuttle service. For a 10 a.m. flight, you'll want to be at your check-in counter at 7:30 a.m. or so. I could see going either way -- (staying in the city or staying near CDG) -- on this one.
