hotel monge paris - no response res rqst

I've had no response to my reservation request on the hotel web site, nor to request made direct to e-mail address. Any info/help appreciated - it's been a week of multiple attempts (great posts here indicated quick response from hotel, and I'm anxious to firm up a reservation for May 2007 trip. Thanks

Although it seems a bit intiminating at first, especially if you don't speak French, I'd just call. Occasionally I've had the same problem with getting responses from hotels. But when I've called, they always speak English. You might also try a fax.

And welcome to Fodors.

I am very surprised to hear that. My experience has been that Julie gets back to her clients within 24 hours to any and all requests. She seldom takes holidays (last one was a number of years ago) and works every day. You may want to phone Hotel Monge between France hours of 10AM and 4PM at

Her English is excellent. The email address I have is

We stayed there in October and LOVED the hotel. Julie, the owner speaks perfect English so if you are really concerned then call. When I booked them it did take about a week for a confirmation. Perhaps because of the holiday this month something has happened? I will look for my cards on the hotel for a different number for them for you to use if you are interested. It was a delightful find in Paris. Happy travels!

Here's an idea: Check your email spam folder. You may find that your filter is blocking messages from the hotel's address.

good suggestion on checking spam. That happened to me but I didn't even see the responses in my spam folder. I was able to successfully send a message from a different e-mail account and got a response right away from Julie. Have fun - the hotel is very nice and staff helpful.

Recently, I read a post (here or TA) where someone said Hotel Monge wouldn't book more than xx months out... so maybe that is the problem. (I don't recall the # of months)

I know that they won't book for September until April (5 or 6 months hence) but Julie still sends an email telling you that.

Thanks to all of you who replied - indeed, an alternate e-mail service request to Hotel Monge brought a near immediate response (room available), and I've contacted my normal provider and had their centralized spam filter removed. I've been using this Fodor's Forum to help plan my trips for two years without registering - being able to get help with specific situations is even greater - thanks again.

Glad to hear you reached them. I was also thinking that it is unlike Julie to not be responsive.

Occasional, I have problems with my main cable e-mail address. Especially messages coming in. Last year when I did not hear back from the language school after I sent them the deposit, I was very concerned. Found out later that they sent me a message but it never reached me. I am glad that you tried another e-mail account. Have fun planning the trip.

I also booked at Hotel Monge for spring. Julie responded overnight with a booking reply, and when I extended the reservation I received a response, again, overnight. Very impressive. I can't wait!
