Loftleider is very close to the airport used by private planes, but quite far from the international airport.
From Reykjavik to the International airport, you may count on 45 mins minimum. Fortunately, there are low cost buses to/from the airport.
The Hotel Loftleidir is one of several hotels owned by Icelandair and it is frequently part of package tours offered by the airline. Don't be put off by the exerior's circa 1960s institutional look -- this is a comfortable, clean and well-maintained place to stay. Downtown Reykjavik is a leisurely 20 minute walk or you can take the city bus that comes every hour. You can also cross the street and take a walk through some trails and you will end up at The Pearl restaurant and the associated shopping center. There is a lounge in the hotel as well as a restaurant, along with a tour desk invaluable for planning excursions. In the past at least, you could check in for your return flight right at the hotel and receive baggage tags, etc. the night before. The aiport serves private planes as well as commercial flights within Iceland. The above poster is correct. The international airport is at Keflavik and it is about a 50 minute ride on the Flybus.
Some years ago we stayed at the Loftleider in a room overlooking the airfield. I remember it was very satisfactory and not far from town. We enjoyed watching the planes, and it was convenient for us as we flew to Heimei(?), Greenland, and Akureri. They had a tour desk that was open 24/7, and twice we made arrangements there after midnight. Also, when we arrived there in the AM, they gave us a room and did not charge an extra night.
