Planning a trip to paris in feb.and need a room with 3 single beds. still deciding which arr. to stay in. 6th looks great. offered renovated room at L'Odeon, and also triples at Brighton (1st), Claude Bernard and Hotel Place de Vosges. Looking for 3 stars and enjoy "charm" as opposed to modern. any input anyone?

Are you referring to Hotel de L'Odeon on rue St. Suplice or the one on rue de l'Odeon? I read a couple unfavorable comments here about the hotel on rue St. Suplice. Claude Bernard is on a very noisy street and I believe triple rooms face the street. Don't know about Hotel Place des Vosges. The Hotel Brighton is in the 1st as you said but close enough to walk across the river. I read they were renovating rooms; is the triple room offered a renovated room?<BR>You made a good decision to stay in the 6th. There are many charming 3* hotels in the 6th with triples. Some to inquire at are Hotel Left Bank St. Germain, Hotel des Deux Continents, Hotel Saint Germain des Pres (on rue Bonaparte). These are all charming and very central. However, they are popular and book in advance but you may still be able to get a reservation.

Joan-<BR>I was interested in your question because the Place de Vosges is my favorite place in Paris &amp; I didn't remember a hotel by that name. So I did a web search to discover that the hotel is not right on Place de Vosges but a 2 minute walk away. It was renovated in 2000. Don't think it's 3* (maybe 2) but it sounds like the best room is #60 on the top floor which accomodates 3 or 4-so maybe that's the one you'd get. It evidently has a charming view of tin rooftops. <BR>I found a great article from the Washington Post that lists a number of relatively inexpensive Paris hotels (it was written in '99) including this one. The website for the article is<BR>www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/travel/features/parishotels041899.htm<BR>It says the decor is nothing much but it's been renovated since this was written.<BR>Hope this helps. Maybe you should do a web search on the others. Meantime, I highly recommend this area.<BR><BR>

Joan-<BR>I stayed at Hotel L'Odeon on Saint Sulpice for one night 2 years ago (in Feb.) with my husband and 2 kids. We reserved a room with 1 double and 2 single beds. The room was tiny and really was too small for the 2 extra beds (it would have felt small even without the extra beds). We didn't mind for one night, but I would have felt claustraphobic being there longer. It wasn't cheap either. It did have a lovely four poster bed, was very quiet and it's a nice central location. Last week I contacted Hotel Danube on rue Jacob in the 6th for winter rates-we are thinking of Feb. also. They have apartments available for families-2 separate rooms. Rate is 200 euro. At the time I was told they still have apartments available for Feb. It's a charming hotel and in a great location. We are still deciding between Danube and Hotel Left Bank another one good for triples.

Joan<BR><BR>We stayed @ the Brighton several years ago.<BR><BR>It is on the very busy rue de Rivoli across from the jardins des Tuileries. Lobby was so-so &amp; dingy hallways but the room was big for Paris with nice furnishings. Large new marble bathroom. We looked out over the jardins from the 2nd floor with a teeny balcony. Big heavy doors shut out the street noise quite well.<BR><BR>My biggest complaint was the tourist mobs &amp; buses &amp; ticky-tacky shops on the street that serviced them.
