Hotel Ira

Just browsing for fun on Trip Advisor for Santorini, and see that there is a hotel in Firostefani named Hotel Ira. Imagine that! And Ira never told us!

Well, with the US government always making a big deal about how much money you'll save if you donate to IRA, I'm not surprised he could afford to buy a hotel.

Sung to the tune of "Hotel California" by The Eagles

Welcome to the Hotel Ira Ira*
But be still my heart
It's not the Bonaparte. . .

There's plenty of room at the Hotel Ira Ira
Just across the street
From good things to eat

Yeah, we're living it up at the Hotel Ira Ira
With macarons, oy vey
From Pierre Hermé

(second "ira" inserted for rhythmic purposes)

You posted about this just a few days ago, Gradyghost? Nope, missed it, and even did search before I posted, just to make sure this wasn't old news. Sorry!

I can't believe Ira hasn't jumped into this thread yet.

WHERE ARE YOU, IRA??

What can he possibly be doing that's more important than Fodoring?

Thanks, TA.

I have been travelling.

I looked up the hotel. The owner's seem to have excellent taste, especially in the choice of name.

>Is our Ira in Boca perhaps?<

Yes.

We visit my Lady Wife's Aunt here. It also gives us a chance to rev up from the quiet lifestyle we pursue in Madison, GA.

A short note for those who think Europe is expensive.

On the way down we stopped for the night in Ocala at a place that we have stayed before because they have coupons for $44/nite.

This time, because there was a biker convention in town, it was $97 plus tax. It would have been $127 +, but we are "regulars".

For that kind of money you can get a room overlooking the Dordogne River with bkfst and dinner for two, in season.
