Hotel in Paris fit for boyfriend's Mom whom I adore
I'm so confused. I've been to Paris a couple of times and have to admit I have chosen poorly in terms of hotels and I really would appreciate some advice here. We want to stay within walking distance of the Louvre or also in the Latin Quarter/Marais. She has a bit of hard time walking so all the better if it's close to a metro stop. Of course I'm on a budget staying three days 16th thru the 19th of Sept. She's never been to Paris and I want to find someplace I won't be embarrassed about choosing - and where she will have a memorable visit...looked all thru the Fodor's choices and was leaning towards the Langlois or Familia. I just don't want to disappoint her since she really is a lovely lady and I'd like to make this a special treat. Please help!!!

So sorry - trying to stay in the 100 to 150 euro range per night. We need a twin /double room (is that what they are called) with two twin beds one for her and one for me. With hopefully an ensuite bathroom or shower.

Hi kitt,
I recently took my mother to Paris. We stayed at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 rue Bonaparte in the 6th. Dbls are about 120E w/bkfst.
Tel 33 1 43 26 97 37
FAX 33 1 46 33 57 67
They do not have a website.
Look up the location at http://www.voila.fr/PagesJaunes/
It is very near metro stops and a bus stop at St. Sulpice.

Have a look at the Hotel de Notre Dame. http://www.hotel-paris-notredame.com/english/main.htm
I think it would also fit the bill.
Look for reviews on tripadvisor.com to avoid embarrassment

The Relais du Louvre, a *** with A/C will just meet your price limit and the location is superb re your stated preferences. They have a price reduction listed on their web site as well. Very near the Louvre metro station. JP

HI
I agree that if walking is an issue you'll be better off with buses, even a nearby metro stop will usually require a lot of stair walking and underground corridor walking.
As for hotel suggestions, I've been doing a lot of research on budget-minded, 2-star, very clean of course, conveniently located hotels, with lifts and private bathrooms, for a return visit this December.
Among the many that meet those requirements I believe (or hope):
St-Jacques (5th)--especially mentioned for charm
Langlois (9th, but not too far north), no a/c
Grand Hotel des Balcons--6th, good buffet breakfast (extra), possibly a little less charm
Bonaparte, also known as "ira's hotel"
(continental breakfast included, has a/c
Grand Hotel Jeanne d'Arc, in the Marais
I've never read a bad thing about it
Residence Monge (5th again)
Each of those should appear in a search right here, and on

I think the Bonaparte sounds like a very good idea, as well as some others Elaine mentions (St Jacques). If the Relais du Louvre really is in your price range, that could be good also.
Are you looking for a hotel in just two weeks? YOu will be lucky to find something good, in that case, at this late date.
I've read a little about the Langlois and it looks nice for a 2* budget hotel, but it's over near Gare St Lazare, why would you pick that hotel and area? I really wouldn't recommend that in your case. I think the Jeanne d'Arc in the Marais is also a good idea.
