Hotel in Lisbon

DH and I are looking for a mid range, but nice and quant, hotel in Lisbon, preferably down in Baixa or Alfama district. We are not wanting a typical American style hotel, but something with character and history. What do you all suggest?

Any interest in a downtown Lisbon flat?

I just booked one today through Air BnB and the combination of space, quality of finish and price seemed to me unbeatable.

But I don't require hotel services.

Establishing a budget would be very helpful in pointing you in the right direction. Have you given it any thought?

Use Booking.com Set your price, facilities and read through the reviews. Pay via CC, if the accommodation wants it. All is sorted out.

We loved this small hotel. Port in the lobby each afternoon and fabulous breakfast. Great location too.

tedgale -we are only in Lisbon for 2 nights and would rather a hotel.
Robert2533 - somewhere in the neighborhood of $180, give or take $20. I see some on Travelocity that to me look good, but just want to hear what Fodorites have to say. Does anything come to mind in that price range?
ribeirasacra - will look at Booking.com as I have used it before for other trips.
Thanks to all of you.

You can check the Olissippo Hotels to see if they have anything within your budget for your dates. The Lappa Palace is their best, and most expensive. The Castelo is located between Alfama and Mouraria. The Saldanha and Marquês de Sá are close to Praça Duque de Saldanha.

Robert2533- The Lappa and Castelo are out of our budget but the others look pretty good. Thank, adding this to my growing file!
grimmy - this one is above our budget as well, but thanks.
