hotel help in Paris - Eiffel area - good area?

hotel help in Paris - Eiffel area - good area?
I have looked into several hotels and have a few questions... I was thinking about staying the Eiffel Tower area - would this be a good location?

It depends on where "in the Eiffel Tower area." The area of the 7th arrondissement tothe east of the Champs de Mars, the Ecole Militaire/rue Cler area is lovely. The area just west of the Champs de Mars is a bit scruffy.

There is nothing wrong with the area... however if you stay in the Latin Quarter, the Maurais, or some other areas you might be a little closer to several of the tourist sites like Notre Dame, the Louvre, etc.
That being said, the Paris Metro really makes all of Paris pretty small and accessable. Wherever you are you will be able to get to other areas easily and quickly with the Metro. Bon Voyage.

I've stayed in the 1st, 9th, twice in the 6th and in the 7th. I prefered the 7th. Could have been because of our hotel, Relais Bosquet..was great (review on tripfinder.com). Went to the 6th and it was soooooo crowded. Could hardly fight our way on the narrow sidewalks...and this was in the middle of the day on a weekday in April. I think it may be just a tad too popular anymore.

The Eiffel Tower/rue Cler area is very easy for American tourists to enjoy. There are numerous restaurants, boulangeries, and boutiques in the neighborhood, as well as easy bus connections to bring you to the rest of Paris. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this part of the 7e. Bon voyage!

I stayed in the 16th approx. a few blocks away from the Eiffel Tower on rue de Longchamp. While the view was stunning and the neighborhood very quiet, that was a small problem. It was just too quiet. I visited the 7th last year and I would prefer that location better if I wanted to stay close to the tower.

We enjoyed staying on Rue Cler. We went in February so it wasn't too busy and it was lovely to stroll around and buy plenty of cheese and wine. There was a great little place for breakfast right next door to our hotel and we had some superb meals. (I remember one was in Leo Le Lion. Fantastic!) We stayed in Grand Hotel Leveque which was basic but very clean and with very friendly staff and at a very reasonable price. I will definitely stay in this area again when I return and probably in the same hotel. I have several friends that stayed just off the Champs Elysee and from talking with them we seemed to have very different experiences of Paris.(I prefered mine!!)
