Hotel for Amsterdam for no more than $150 per night?
Today I have spent hours searching for a hotel for six nights (April 15 - 20, 2011, and I have not found anything yet for that price. Will I be forced to up my limit?
Thanks for any help!

I think that's an expensive time, but your main hope for a nice, central hotel is Priceline, and possibly Hotwire. See www.betterbidding.com .
Try www.hotelscombined.com and hope for a miracle.
You could also consider Leiden, Utrecht, or Haarlem to stay in.

Go to TripAdvisor.com and look in the Amsterdam forum. There are threads called "Bidding on a 4 star..." and "Bidding on a 5 star.." look at the last few pages of each. You can normally get a Priceline NYOP room for under $100 USD. Unless there's a big conference or holiday.
As WillTravel mentioned above betterbidding.com is an excellent resource to go along with NYOP.

I used Priceline last year, and got the Movenpick Hotel for 80.00 per night and stayed 4 nights. The year before, I got the NH Hotel beside the flower market for 65.00 per night. I am not saying you will have the same success, but I am just saying it is worth the try.

A couple of nice deals jkbritt!
In 2007 before I understood how to use Priceline
we booked the Moevenpick through their own site... it was over 200 EUROS a night.
Happily we lucked into a free upgrade to a suite that included breakfast on the house! ;^)

We stayed at Hotel Aspen, it was 80-90 euros a night (can't remember) in July of 2009. Right by the Anne Frank House, so a great location. Rooms were clean and a pretty good size. There are some narrow stairs up to the rooms but neither of us had problems with them. The owner was very nice.
