I welcome your opinions of the Hotel du Quai Voltaire in Paris. We have reservations to stay there in October. Thanks.

Here's what other people who stayed there had to say:
Hotel du Quai Voltaire (2 star left bank)-
On the left bank right across the Seine from the Louvre.
not luxury hotel - small and charming
loved it.
rooms are small, but clean
can be noisy
Basic and clean
lower floors are somewhat loud at night
wonderful
dont expect any real charm or posh setting in the room.
a bit out of the way
rooms could be updated.
if you face the river it's very noisy
Small, quaint
Friendly French people
a bit shabby
not at all charming.
For more Paris information e-mail me – [email protected]
I am considering this hotel for April/May 2002. Did you stay there and what was your final impression. Thanks for the update.

I stayed there in September and really enjoyed it. It is very well appointed for a 2 star. And the location is PERFECT. The street-side rooms (the ones with the million dollar (euro) view are noisy but I used earplugs and slept with my windows wide open. Get a room on the upper floors for the best views. The rooms at the back are quieter, cost less, but don't have the view.

My 5th floor room had a view all the way from Place de la Concorde to Notre Dame and was directly across the river from the Louvre. I could wave at the boats traveling past on the river. I saw inside 4 or 5 rooms and they are all quite different. Some very small and some large by Paris standards.

I found the desk staff and the cahmbermaids to be very friendly and helpful. There is a small bar/breakfast room, reading lounge and a lift.

It is a two star so it is not posh but is very nice and worth the money.

Thank you so much Janis. I had searched this site and was coming up with cons as well as pros, and it helps to hear from someone with recent experience. My daughter especially wants the view! She didn't finish the Louvre (is it even possible?) when we were in Paris in August and is thrilled with the idea of being just across the bridge.
