Hotel Dona Maria - Sevilla

Staying in the Hotel Dona Maria for our trip to Spain in January... Has anyone stayed there before and have opinions to share? Thanks!

I forgot to add Hotel Simon to that post as well - if amenities are not a must, which one of those two would you all pick?

Hi Erin

We stayed there 2 years ago and enjoyed it, chiefly because of location, location, location (right off the central square.) Rooms were simple but comfortable, breakfast was adequate, staff was accommodating. While not the most remarkable hotel in town, we felt that for the price, it delivered a very good value.

Thanks, Janine! It's always reassuring to hear other people's praises of a place before you stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Dona Maria several years ago and it instantly became one of our favorite hotels. The view at night to the square from the rooftop pool area was breathtaking. The staff was extremely helpful and most friendly. The bar off the lobby was the perfect place for a romantic glass of sherry. In short, I am envious. Have a great time.

I hate to complain, but I was in Spain a couple of years ago and stayed at the Dona Maria. Well, we checked in and then left a few hours later. The location was nice but the room was dirty, loud, the "pool" was laughable. It was very disappointing as we had read nice things about it. We moved to the Hotel Colon which was also a great location and so much fun! There were a couple of matadors on our floor which was wild.. talking to them when they were all dressed in the costumes! And the staff organized our trips around the area.. very friendly. But no matter where you stay, Seville is a great city.. have fun! --Erin
