Hotel de la Pelissaria-St. Cirqlapopie

Has anyone stayed at this hotel in St. Cirq Lapopie? It has good reviews from the guide books, but would like some people reviews before we book. Thanks

I know this hotel gets good reviews, but we didn't like it a bit. We thought it was overpriced by comparison to comparable places in the region, and the owners/staff were surly and unhelpful. On a Sunday morning, when there was absolutely nothing open in town, they refused to give us coffee because "the restaurant is closed."

While there, we peeked into the Auberge du Sombral, higher up on the hill. It looked very sweet and cosy, and the owners were smiling, which is more than I can say for the owners of the Pelissaria, who seemed to be in a snit every time we crossed paths with them.

I'll add to St. Cirq's recommendation of the Auberge du Sombral. A very nice hotel, with good staff and a well regarded restaurant. Also you might consider, if you want to stay just outside the town, the hotel Le Causse, telephone 05-65-312416, only about a mile away and perhaps better as far as parking and traffic are concerned. I think la Perlissaria has rested too much on its laurels and is depending on its publicized reputation, rather than continuing to cater to its customers.

Thanks for all the input. Does anyone have a website or other way of making a reservation at the Auberge du Sombral?
