Hotel Brighton or Hotel le Notre Dame?

Jump to last reply

I'm headed to Paris for 4 nights late May/early June at the end of a trip to the Italian Riviera/Cinque Terre and Cote d'Azur with my 22 year old son. This is my fifth trip to Paris, and I've never stayed at a touristy hotel. Last time I was there, I stayed in a friend's apartment in Belleville; traditionally I've stayed in small hotels on the Left Bank. But this time I've decided to stay in a room with a view. And the two best bets for my budget seem to be either the Brighton (Rue de Rivoli w/view of the Louvre and Tuileries) or the Notre Dame (view of Seine and cathedral). I'm not that keen on staying on a busy corner. On the other hand, the Notre Dame is convenient to lots of great places and things). The Brighton seems like it's in a nicer spot, but the reviews have me a little concerned about the hotel's decor. And the decor of the Notre Dame looks really fun.

Opinions? I should say I want not only a view, but also a friendly and lovely hotel that will deliver a nice experience. Thanks!
