Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich
We will be in Munich during August of 2007. We had planned to stay at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. Then, (on another forum) we read some really terrible reviews.
These reviews were from summer 2006 and complained mainly about 2 things. One was that there was lots of noise during renovations. And the other was that the rooms drastically needed refurbishment.
Does anyone know the progress of these renovations? Are all the rooms to be done soon?
What experiences has anyone had (recently) at the Bayerischer Hof?
Thanks!

I don't know anything about the renovations. However, the Bayerischer Hof is one of my favorite hotels in the world.
Service and amenities are top-notch. The location is excellent and the rooms are wonderful. We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms and found it to be lovely.
The breakfast buffet is terrific, even though there is usually an added charge for it. Champagne, et al.
The hotel has several restaurants and bars and you almost don't even have to leave the premises to enjoy yourself.
Even when we haven't stayed there, we always take one night to go to Trader Vic's or the Nightclub. I'm always amazed that they know me by name, even though I only visit there once every couple of years.
I would assume that all renovations would be complete by Aug. 2007. I say go for it. The Bayerischer Hof is an experience unto itself!
