Hotel Am Stephansplatz, Help!
Has anyone stayed at Hotel Am Stephansplatz?
It's said the newly renovated hotel is right next to the St. Stephen's Cathedral. I got a rate quote for 225Euro a night,(2 adults and 2 kids). I also got another quote from the famous Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth, because of kids issue, it offered me a rate of 269Euro,very expensive! Do these rates sound right? Which would you choose to stay? Please help me. We only stay in Vienna for 2 nights.

Can I ask when you are traveling to Vienna? That usually makes a difference with the prices. I have to admit that those prices seem kind of high to me. We were in Vienna in March of last year and stayed at Pension Pertschy for around $110 a night, but this was in March and therefore obviously off-season.

Hi, Tracy,
We will be in Vienna in late June. I guess it's also in-season in Europe? Also, I think it's because of our two kids. Usually kids over 6 don't stay free in Europe. Now I know how much I should appreciate it in America. How do you like Pension Pertschy? How is its location? Thank you so much for reply my message.

backyardcritters, I'm sure your probably right. I don't have any children so its just my husband and I, plus June is probably the start of high season in Vienna so that may be why the prices are so high.
We were very pleased with Pension Pertschy. The location was great; on a side road directly off Graben, very close to St. Stephens (and the underground station Stephensplatz) and the Hofburg complex. The breakfast was good and the hotel room was fairly large, although the bathroom was on the small side (typical, though, for Europe). We would gladly stay there again. Here is the website if you are interested:

Have you also tried possibly hotels.com, venere.com or another travel site?
I wish you the best of luck! Vienna is a great city and I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.

Our family of four stayed at the Kaiserin Elisabeth in mid-June last year. I believe we paid almost $300/night. It's not cheap, but it's a GREAT hotel and location. That price does include a wonderful hot and cold breakfast buffet, so be sure to figure that into your prices.
It's a very elegant little hotel, beautiful breakfast room, waitresses will bring you coffee and eggs cooked to order. Well worth the price.
Our family room was a great size for us with two teens. When I e-mailed the KE directly to ask for a discount, they gave us a 10 percent reduction.
