I will be traveling in Dec to Belgrade, Serbia and was wondering if anyone had some tips on hotels near the center? The InterContinental seems too far out.
Thanks.

Hi Julia
Have a look at the site www.beograd.org.yu
it has an english translation, and the hotels under accomodation is quite extensive. Knez Mihailova is the main street and all the go so somewhere near there or the National Parliament you would probably enjoy, alternatively, on the river in Old Zemun. Public transport is good, according to my partner who is Serbian from Belgrade. This site also has other info you will need. beware of money issue as credit cards not good to use except in the poshist hotels unless you want your funds riupped off and dont rely on being able to easily cash travellers chqs. American Express not represented for understandable reasons (bobming in 1999). Very safe though now, and friendly, though unprofessional.
