I am interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced a balloon ride in Provence. The only company I can find is "Provence-en-Ballon" out of Joucas (Gordes). They have been very helpful with my questions, but curious if anyone has used them. Also wondering about the logistics of arriving at the point of departure. We are staying in St. Remy and the manager of the balloon company said that it will take about 50 minutes to arrive at the departure point from St. Remy. Is this about right? Being from Florida we don't have many small, winding roads, so it's hard for me to judge by the map. Do you think it is worth the effort of getting up at 4:00 in the morning for a 6:00 flight?? I would think the answer is yes, but just think a second opinion would be great. A helicopter flight over Maui two years ago was the highlight of our trip - I'm thinking the balloon flight would be equally great.
Thanks for any input.

I cannot speak to provence but we took a ride with FranceBalloons in the Loire last year and it was more than just worth it..absolutely unforgettable.
Bring your camera not only for the views from aloft but also of the actual set-up and inflation of the balloons.
It's worth it in Cappadocia, Turkey.
I sent some guests on one of their balloon rides a couple of years ago. I live just south of St Remy... and they did get up at 4 AM to head over there. They thoroughly enjoyed it.. especially the champagne afterwards.
They did have to change their ride from one day to a different one however, due to winds. The departures always depend on the weather.

Last May I stayed in a B&B in Joucas for three nights. The window of our room looked out over the valley toward Rousillon. Each morning I watched a balloon float by and wish now I had splurged for the ride.
