Horseback Riding Tours

Has anyone out there taken a riding trip in Italy lately? I'm looking for some feedback on which group you used, if you liked it, etc...thanks!

the definitive web site for riders is: Equitours. I've done 2 riding trips with them, one at their ranch in Wyoming & one endurance riding in Mendocino, CA. Only the best locations, operators, mounts. Their Italy rides look fabulous. I recommend them highly!

Also check out Hidden Trails. Both Equitours and HT offer wonderful trips. I did one in southern Spain that was the trip of a lifetime!

Thanks for the info - I've seen the catalogs for both equitours and hidden trails and both look great. I was really hoping to find someone who did one of their Italy rides to get their opinion of it and if they would recommend it to others. Anyone??

Dana - I took one in France through Cross Country last year that was amazing. If you want to know more about that trip let me know - otherwise I'm sorry - can't help you with trips in Italy.

Hi again Dana,

Bayard Fox & his wife, Mel, are the nicest people you will ever meet (owners of Equitours). If you e mail or call them at the Bitterroot Ranch, they will probably be happy to link you with some personal referrals for the Italy rides.

When I visited their ranch years ago, two of the other visiting guests were friends of the Foxes, a Count & Countess from Tuscany. I belive they do rides from their Chianti estate, but I do not remember their family name. Perhaps it was Donato?
