Honk if you love Turkey!

Not really, just joking. But I do love Turkey. I have noticed in reading the posts on here that so many people say Turkey is the best trip they have ever taken. I know thats how I feel. No matter where we travel, or how much fun we have it doesn't ever measure up completely to our 2 weeks going around Turkey from Istanbul to Cappadocia to Antalya and ending in Izmir. I want to go back so much. So lets see how many of us there are. Thanks.

You have made a good start. Next time you go, from Cappadocia, head east to the border with Armenia. Then north through the mountains to the Black Sea coast, then cut south to the ancient land of the Hittites, the apricot orchards around Malatya, and on to Adana and the Mediterranean coast. Fabulous!

I haven't been yet, but we are going in September, and I'm totally engrossed in reading every guidebook and viewing every video I can get my hands on! I'm looking forward to an incredible trip!

I know there are more people out there in Fodor land who think Turkey is the favorite for an unforgettable trip. I guess I want it in black and white because my friends can't believe or don't want to believe what a great experience we had there. My motive isn't entirely pure. I would like to go back in 2 years and charter a gulet with friends for 1 week and spend the other week in Istanbul and Cappadocia. I need to convince my friends that its not just me, that Turkey really is special, so help. Please. Thanks. Mary

If you have to convince your friends that where you desire to travel is good then I suspect you need a different set of friends.

I believe, if I understand zwho properly that she is trying to convince her friends to join her on a trip to Turkey. They are no doubt not overly interested as they probably do not have much knowledge about Turkey.
Zwho, see if you can find a great travel book with photos at your library to share with your friends. That might up the enthusiam!

zwho, you email me if they won't go!

I absolutely loved Turkey and want to go back to Istanbul and to charter a gullet. Hopefully, in '06 or '07. (Though, I'm not sure if it's my very favorite because all trips are favorites for different reasons. If pushed, it's in a 3-way tie for first.)

Globetrekker has a DVD on Turkey overall and 1 on Istanbul. Both are excellent and might be good viewing with your friends.

About half of the photos from my 2002 trip are on ofoto if you want me to forward you the link.

Hi Chi Heather, I would love to see your Turkey photos. Send me the links. Thanks. What are the other 2 places that tie with Turkey? I really loved Israel and the small towns in Spain, but I am always looking for wonderful places to see! Mary
