Hello everyone,
My husband and I are planning on visiting Ireland late June for our honeymoon. We would so love to stay in a castle for maybe 4-5 nights. Can you guys gives recommendations? After hopefully staying in a castle, we would like to discover Ireland. We have 3 weeks. We're not crazy about all the touristy spots, more like real Ireland, if there's a difference?![]()
Thanks!
Elina

Adare Castle is lovely..In Dublin . Pembroke Townhouse is very nice as is the costly but superb Shelbourne. there are many wonderful places just google castle/hotels in Ireland. You will come up with a surprising number. Also Ireland Trust has restored places.
Why did you choose Ireland ?
Most Castles as per Castle Hotels are not castles but Manor houses built around a former Tower house. Some Castle hotels are not even that they are built on the site of or next to an old castle.
Facts done there are a number of choices. Some though are tourist focused, Adare Manor as mentioned comes with US type electrical sockets it is so focused on American tourists. Drommoland is handy for Shannon Airport and a well respected fortified Manor. Ashford castle again special deals for US tourists. Ballyseede Castle in North Kerry is a reasonable option and not too expensive. Back to Connemara and Ballinahinch Castle a Hunting lodge in a lovely setting but you might even meet up with the locals in the bar, would be my choice.
Michele at Ireland Yes has a page detailing castle hotels

Thank you so much, I will check out all the options. Have you heard of Leslie Castle and Waterford Castle hotels? They're very reasonably priced. Are they good to look at? Adriana, Ireland was my choice lol! My husband and I are both musicians and Irish music just takes me to another place and I've been dying to see the the country, meet the people. My husband is also excited, mostly about the beer and food!
I have stayed at both Waterford Castle and Kinnitty Castle and can recommend them both, but Waterford would be my choice. That said, it is somewhat off the beaten path to use as a base for exploring.
