Hiring Drivers in Provence

Jump to last reply

Hello Savvy Provence Fodorites!

Question of the Day:

Has anyone hired drivers in Provence? If so, whom?

Did you use a service or get an independent referral?

I am starting a guided travel business and some of my first trips will be to Provence (1st trip is over 6 months away). I will be spending my weekends there this June/July firming up my restaurant, transportation, and lodging choices.

In general I have always preferred the independent guys (who I typically find through Fodors, like I did for my Croatia trip) to the big companies, as you are actually paying them vs the company (who then pays them a lower hourly rate) and I like entrepreneurs and the guys who do it for the love of the area! Also, they tend to be less expensive.

I would be bringing my group into and out of Avignon (since we would take the TGV from Paris) and then we would be staying in a country home somewhere in Uzes area or Arles, or one of Luberon Villages (each trip will vary a little based on size of group and season).

Any recommendations would be great. Thank you in Advance, you have not steered me wrong in the 10 years since I first got on here at age 24 to search for an affordable apartment recco in Paris as a young college student!
