Hiring a Driver in Shannon

Hello. I am headed to Killarney for a wedding this October. My friend and I are flying into Shannon and would like to hire a car and driver to take us to Killarney - making many pub stops along the way which is why we don't want to drive. We would also need a ride back to Shannon about 2-3 days later. Can anyone recommend a service for such an endeavor? Thanks!

I think a taxi company may have private drivers or a hackney fdriver. We did this from Dublin a few years back on a work event when we wcould not get a minibus. Google for Taxi comapnies in Shannon and let me know how you get on

I am headed to Ireland next year (likely August) with 12 adults. We are hoping to rent a bus or a large van and hire a driver to accomodate us. We likely will tour Western Ireland. Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've used taxi's and hackney's many times in Ireland. I've tried to find James Woods taxi service in Ennis for you without luck. If you can't prebook just walk out and ask a driver how much he would charge you. Ask one or two and see if you don't get about the same price. Or, go to IrelandYes and ask and also Pat Preston. I wish Nedsireland would read this as he knows the Woods also and might have their number. Good luck, Joan

He would be in his early 80's now - e retired at 76 and when I went back last year, he was waiting at Ennis Bus/train Station looking for a fare. The taxi service is in the name of his son, Tony Woods. Sorry, I don't have his telephone number. There's one called Clare Cabs (011)353 65 28122. That might be the number.

As I recall, there's a counter at Shannon airport where you can book car & driver. It's behind you and on your left behind the escalator after you exit Customs/Immigration.

It's going to cost you some Euros going all the way to Killarney. I, for one, would save those Euros for pints of the black stuff and bus to Limerick City, then stop in NewcastleWest for lunch at the Heather tavern on Bridge St., next stop: Tralee and finally to Killarney.

buzzsaw...

we did just that this past june with 10 people and it was the best way to go.

you can see my trip report...just click on my name.

we used discover ireland tours...we did most of the planning (they can/will do it if you don't want to, can give as much input as you care to)and they arranged for the bus/driver and made all of the reservations and got vouchers for our planned stops.

let me know if you have any other questions...I highly recommend the group and driver that we used.
