Hiking and beach going in Croatia-Early fall 2012

Hello-my husband and -avid hikers-are looking for 5-7 days in Croatia
early fall. 2012. We've been to Rovinj and loved the area but want a combination of mountains and beach. Any itinerary recommendations-must sees. I love Dubrovnik and the islands in the Adriatic intrigue me. After a week in Switzerland and one in Croatia we will probably need a few spa days at the end, anywhere on our way back to Patis for our flight home. Thank you in advance.
