Hello all...can anyone tell me how far the Hertz drop off at Fumicino is to the Al Italia terminal. We have actually been there to drop a car but I can't remember. Of course I am asking because we have a flight departing at 10:40 AM and have opted to drive from Orivieto that morning, so as not to give up a night there. I understand it's about an hour and 45 minute drive. I'm trading a night in Orvieto for stress but what the heck!
Thanks very much.

Trip Ideas
As I recall it was pretty close. I would plan to give yourself about 2 to 2.5 hours however, (assuming you are flying from FCO to the States?.. check in was slow)
Yes..planning to get to Hertz by 8 AM for a 10:40 flight...god willing, with no mishaps. Thank you.
I'd be careful counting on a 1 3/4 hour drive from Orvieto. I haven't driven that highway at rush hour, so check with those who know.
I think it sounds risky.
When you are approaching FCO on the highway, look for the signs for ARRIVALS and then for the multi-piano parcheggio or covered parking garage. It can be a long walk via sky bridges, so be sure to allow plenty of time.
Okay...all very good advice and much appreciated. Thanks very much.
Some airports have very clear, large "RENTAL CAR RETURN" signs as you approach the airport. FCO is not one of them, so be sure to heed the info DonnaD44 provided. I've heard that some drivers can circle around the airport a couple of times till they find the right location.
There is a gas service station on the A90 AutoStrada about 15km from the airport, right before you reach the A91. That's a handy location to get gas before you return the car. It's the Pisana service station at these GPS coordinates (41.860998,12.373522) - you can pull up the location on google maps.
We just did a Hertz drop-off at Fiumicino in October and it was, as others have said, not as easy as it should be. Donna's advice is excellent but even once you find the multi-level parking garage it can be tricky. As I recall there are actually several garages (all very close to each other). They are identified by letter---A, B, C etc. we went through the gate, took a ticket but the first sign we saw was for Avis and several other companies. No mention of Hertz. But having no option we went in. I think it was on the third level where the Avis drop-off was that there was a sign saying Hertz was in a different garage. Back down we went. Luckily the one gate serves all the garages and we were able to follow signs to the proper garage. I'm sorry that I don't remember which letter it was.
Bottom line---I would ask when you pick-up which garage you should go to. And if you see the Avis sign, that's not the one!!!!!
Oh boy...okay...I will definitely ask when I pick up the car what the specifics are for drop off. I will just be sure to leave ample time....we did it only last year and I can't remember either...I think that we just happened to get to it by chance and were very relieved when we did. Thanks again.
