Helsinki to Provoo
Hello All,
I will visit Helsinki in this month.
Do you think Provoo is worth to visit for one day trip ?
Can you tell me more how to go PROVOO FROM Helsinki ?
Besides Provoo, How about Turku ?
Hope you can share your experience to me.
I will visit Helsinki with my family (2 adults and 2 kids).
Thanks in advance.
Gavin

Gavin,
It depends on how many days you are in Helsinki and what your interests are. You can easily fill 2-3 days in Helsinki with the fortress island, the folk park, churches, architecture, and getting out on the water. There are also the usual zoo and amusement park for the children.
You can get to Porvoo two ways. One it to take the bus from Kamppi, the main bus terminal in Helsinki, to the Porvoo town square, both ways. The other is to take a boat one way and bus the other. The historic area of the Porvoo is small with shops and restaurants in the old wooden buildings. Worth a couple of hours of strolling around. Thus, the boat trip might make the day more "worthwhile" than just using the bus back and forth as I did.

For Turku, you can take the train. Tickets from the station or else purchase discount in advance. I have only been there overnight, saw the castle and the waterfront area, but I know there is more, especially folk history, handicrafts, maritime exhibits.
