Helpful Hint

It would be helpful to me as an avid user of Fodors for our trip planning to ask Trip Report authors to include the dates of their travel. That information isn't always included but can be invaluable. This is requested with great appreciation for those of you who "pass it foward" to the rest of us.
Thank you.

yeah, good point, although most of the ones I read seem clear on the time frame.

I kind a hate to be a jerk – OK I'll be I'll be OK with being a jerk – but the tall title of your post "helpful hints" doesn't give us any information about what the hinge might be. Much like you were asking posters to include dates, you might've stated "helpful hints about trip dates"

Good point, newtome. Some posters seem to think they will be charged by the letter in writing post titles. The end result is Forum members not opening threads because they cannot tell what the poster wants.

For example, there is a post that just popped up titled, "SE Italy". I only opened it because I wanted to understand why the OP had misspelled the word "See". Turns out the poster wants information about, "South East Italy". Seven more letters would have engendered a lot more responses, IMO.

SE is a pretty typical abbreviation, although I agree about titles.

I think most trip reports I've seen usually list the season, at least, and usually the dates are somewhat irrelevant, although it's nice to know exact dates sometimes for crowd level reasons. I.e. Are the crowds normally like this or was there a convention, or was it a weekend?

Since we are talking about abbreviations, please note not all of you are englishspeaking. So what seems logical for an american or british or an aussie might not be - but then not at all - for a Belgian.
Socal comes to mind for example.
