Help with Spanish Pyrenees

I am planning a trip for next summer (first 2 weeks of June) to northern Spain/southern France. My husband and I ( early 30s) will stay for a few nights in Barcelona, and then rent a car. We're thinking that we'll then spend a couple of nights in the Costa Brava area, and then somewhere in the Spanish Pyrenees, and then somewhere in the French Pyrenees ( probably near the national park).

What I am having trouble deciding on at this point is where to stay in the Spanish Pyrenees. I want to stay somewhere authentic without hordes of people on the hiking trails. My husband really wants to go fly fishing, and I am interested in doing some light mountain biking/cycling on easy trails and walking from village to village. I have looked at Vall d' Boi, around Torla, near the national park of Aiguestortes, the Sierra de Guara canyon and am just not sure where to choose! I'd love to see wildlife--beavers, otters, birds and the like, but some nice mountain scenery is a must.

Another idea is to scrap the idea of the Spanish Pyrenees entirely and divide the time between Girona and the French Pyrenees.

Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

I thoroughly enjoyed Taüll in the Vall de Boi, but don't know about the options for fly fishing there.

You might want to take a look at my trip report:

Hope that helps!

The only fly fishing your husband will be able to do, that I am aware of, will be on the French side, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques (http://www.pyrenees-bearnaises.com/e...on-fishing.htm), or in Navarra, on the Spanish side (www.navarrafishingadventures.com).

Is not June considered breeding season for fish? If so you will not be able to do it.
This website gives you some ideas on sports to satisfy both of you: http://www.vertientesaventura.com/?lang=en
These offer fly fishing trips to the area; https://www.flydreamers.com/es/viaje...-fishing-o-506

Kja, I looked at your first post in your trip report ( will read the whole thing later when I have more time! ) and saw that you drove a lot. We'll be driving for about a week, and I wanted to know how expensive it was as compared to driving in the US (gas, tolls, etc). I need to figure out how much to budget, roughly. Thanks!

If you use viamichelin.com to plot your route, it will provide you with not only the routes and times, but also tolls and costs for fuel.
