Help with Madrid Location

Will be in Madrid I early May. I was looking at this hotel Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa Alfredo Marquerie, 43 It seems a bit out of town is it too far? I will be using points so this is one choice. Not sure where in Madrid is best. Being close to the Prado is that the best location?
Thanks

Yes, that is a ways out of things likely to appeal to a visitor. Close to the Prado is good, as is some other central location convenient to a metro stop. Google maps (I prefer to "old" version) is very helpful in figuring out this sort of thing.

As noted, the closer to the center of the city the better. The Mirasierra Hotel & Spa is 20 minutes by taxi from the Prado. It will take you over 40 minutes if using the metro. If walking, allow 2 hours.

Puerta del Sol would be central , although in such a big city it is hard to say.
The traffic in Madrid can be brutal - 20 min by taxi can easily turn into much longer.

I was glad to stay very near El Prado, but then, my focus in Madrid was on its art collections.

The Ritz is a great hotel. Near the art. But the cost? What the heck.

Doesn't get much better than Westin: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/west...madrid.en.html

A wonderful city: World class art, architecture, local feel neighbourhoods right in the city center, great tapas bars and restaurants, top theaters, concerts, music venues and the best nightlife in the country: http://www.esmadrid.com/en/

I agree with the location recs; personally, I think it can actually get a lot better than the Westin but will avoid the usual hotel pissing contest we see around here.

There are many hotels in the vicinity of the Westin Palace (by the way I've stay in it and liked it very much). Just stayed in Catalonia las Cortes, near Plaza Santa Ana. Its a smaller hotel but very nice.

It appears the OP wants to use Starwood points in which case the two options are the Sheraton and the Westin Palace. Westin is a much better location of your two options

I believe that the Ritz is a Marriott.

The Ritz in Madrid is not affiliated with the Ritz Carlton chain and is not part of the Marriott brand.
