Help with London
My 23 year old daughter and I will be in London June 30-July 3. We will be at Wimbledon on July 1 (won in the lottery), but would like some suggestions for the other days. She loves TV and downloads several UK programs over the internet daily. I saw that the BBC Experience is no longer operating, but can anyone tell me how the BBC television station tour is? Is it just for little kids, or would she enjoy that? I also found these suggestions in an old Fodors book (2000), but don't know if they would be suitable: Royal Mews, Tower Bridge Tour, one of the toy museums? We have already seen changing of the guard, Tower of London, Big Ben, Westminister Abbey. Is there anything else there that is out of the ordinary and just a lot of fun?

For something VERY MUCH “out of the ordinary” call the FRIENDS OF HIGHGATE and get a tour schedule. It is one of the "Magnificent 7" Victorian Cemeteries in London, full of flowers, butterflies and beautifully decayed monuments, some sculpted by the best artisans of the day.
There are other cemeteries as well, but Highgate needs the money from tourists perhaps a bit more than the others, plus the history here is nothing short of phenomenal. (Just as a bit of trivia, this is the place that inspired Bram Stoker to write his gothic masterpiece, DRACULA.)
Take the Archway Tube stop and enjoy a unique and pleasant diversion from life in London.
Do a Google search, type in "Highgate Cemetery London", you'll get mucho info.
Here is one of many web addresses:

Have you done the London Eye yet? Thats cool. She doesn't sound like a shopaholic but a trip to Harrods for tea is great. What about the theatre? There is some good stuff on all the time.
I'm sure she'd love (and you too) lunch or dinner at Waggammamma the Japanese noodle bar near the British Museum. Its so yummy and soooo difierent sitting at long tables and meeting others.
If you like flowers, a trip to Queen Mary's Rose Garden is absolutely a must! At that time of the year it's at its best.
Madam Tussauds?
A trip up river to Windsor Castle or Hampton Court Palace?
A trip down river to the Thames Barrier?
What about Covent Garden for a good browse around and some pub grub?

Yes, we have done the London Eye and she would like to do that again. We are also planning to go to Windsor, a play, and she wants to eat at Harrods (pick out a steak and have them cook it for you) and we were planning to go to tea at one of the hotels. She does like to shop and we have several places planned for that. We just thought it would be fun to do some different things.
Laurie Ann, when you went to the BBC tour did they have a store with BBC merchandise or anything like that? I have been to the NBC tour in New York City and they had a store and several fun things to do.
