Hi,
Looking for help with an Itinerary from Paris to Venice via Cinque Terre.
We (2 adults) would be leaving Paris on a Tuesday AM (in August), would like to stop in Cinque Terre and need to be Venice by the Friday Evening.
What would be the best route (via train). Should be stop anywhere else on our route?

Cinque Terre to Venice will take the best part of a day which will mean leaving Cinque Terre on Friday mid morning at the latest.
I think it will take all of Tuesday to get from Paris to Cinque Terre by train. I think you would need to get a train/s to Nice and then another train to Cinque Terre. Others will be able to be more detailed about that trip, as I'm not sure if its possible to do it in one go or if you would need to change trains at some point along the way.
You can take a train from Paris to Torino (about 5 hours), and from Torino it is about another 4 hours to get to le Cinque Terre. (Definitely do NOT go through Nice.)
You can shave an hour off your Inter-city travel times by staying on the Riviera in a village like Camogli, and using it as a base to visit le Cinque Terre. When you need to go to Venice, you can go back north through Milan.
However, whether you stay in le Cinque Terre or further north in someplace like Camogli, you will still spend between 5.5 and 7 hours getting to Venice from there.
In August, you will find it brutally hot for hiking in le Cinque Terre and absolutely slammed with crowds of foreign tourists during the day. Le Cinque Terre has next to nothing when it comes to beaches. If you are looking forward to swimming, you should stay in Sestri Levante, which at least has enough beach space to handle the August crowds. Anywhere you want to book by the sea you need to do that months in advance.
