Hi judybat (eerie...is your moniker from the band? do I know you?) - if you search up above on the word "itinerary" and then click on "Ireland" it will pull up many, many posts very similar to yours (from the past week, even!)- you should be able to glean lots of helpful info from the Ireland experts' responses to these threads. Happy searching and planning!

Please don't call it "Dingletown" - it's Dingle.

My name is indeed after the band... a long time favorite of mine.
I'm don't know if you know me, do you? Your name isn't ringing a bell.

Gee, thanks for your input Geoff. I'm sure it will prove invaluable. *snarf* My travel book calls it Dingletown.

Some people refer to it as Dingle town (2 words I believe) to help distinguish it from the Peninsula.

Now on to your actual question. It looks mainly do-able, though here are a few thoughts.

The day from Galway to Dingle has been done many times though you will hit the Cliffs at mid day and they will be pretty crowded. Still, certainly worth the stop as they are one of the most spectacular sights in Ireland.

The 16th is much more than I would want to do. Generally, the Ring of Kerry is considered a full day tour, even if you start on the Ring. There is sooooo much to see between Dingle and Kinsale that I would not want to try to fit the Ring into that day.

Some people are not fans of the Ring and would say to skip. That is certainly an option. The other possibility is to spend a night somewhere between Dingle and Kinsale and enjoy a more liesurly trip along the southern Cork coast the next day. That would be my choice, whether or not you did the RoK.

Personally, I would cut a day from Dublin and add it to the countryside, but if you are a city person, you might enjoy seeing the city life more. It appears that you will be there midweek, so it won't be as crazy as it is on the weekends.

If you stick with your current plan, I think you would want to spend the second night in Kinsale. You will have had a very full day on the 16th.

I hope this helps.

We actually stayed in the Gap of Dunloe the night before we drove the Ring of Kerry. It was very cool.

Jay:

Where did you stay? I'd like to file that away for a future trip.
