Would anyone help me about hotels in Prague? My husband and I will go to Prague by the end of September for three days. I've booked Hotel Salvator which near the Lesser Tower and also the Prague 1 Reisdence on Zitna Street near near the New Towns. Did anyone stay there before? Which location is better i.e. safe, convenience, not too noisy! It seemed that the Hotel Salvator gots a lot of good review but somebody claimed his belongings has been stolen in this hotel lately. See Athos.com review.

Hotel Salvator on Truhlarska street sounds better than Residence on Zitna street which is much more noisy. My friend Frank spent three weeks at Salvator this year and was really satisfied. He felt there very safely and nothing was stolen. I had dinner at Salvator with him - excellent. Just my observation.
Thank you for your information. Now I can make up my mind!

We stayed at the Hotel Salvator in May of 2002, and would stay there again. We found it to be charming, clean, convenient to old town (just a 5 minute walk), and convenient to the subway (just a 2 minute walk to the end of the street). It is close enough to return to for a late afternnon break-- an important consideration for us when looking for the right hotel location. The office did have a hotel safe which we took advantage of, for papers and some valuables, if that is of concern to you. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were very good. And, as someone mentioned previouly, the house restaurant is excellent.
I've stayed at the Bohemia Plaza on Zitna. It is a busy street, but if you have a room facing into a courtyard, it is a great location. The Salvator is considered a good deal because of the reasonable price & good location. It depends on where you want to be located. If you like Old Town, then stay at Salvator. If you want more of the glitz of Wenceslas Square, stay on Zitna. Both areas have tons of restaurants & shopping, and you can hop on the metro from either location.
My wife and I spent two night at the Salvator on 9/15-16/2003. When I booked by phone I was told they take visa, but when it came time to check out, they told me that I had to pay in cash. I was overcharged for both the room and the parking, and they refused to give me an itemized bill. The hotel
was extremely noisy, with people partying until 2am both nights. I was in Eastern Europe for four weeks, and this was our worst hotel experience. Please be forewarned.
When visiting Prague with my mother about 6 years ago, we stayed at the Intercontinental, which was wonderful and within walking distance of the main square. Since it was part of a package, I don't know what the rates are like.
Have fun! The array of architecture is glorious.
